The maximum is not always a safe speed
Speed must be adapted to the road, weather, visibility, vehicle and surrounding traffic. You must remain in control when conditions change.
Reaction and braking distance
Stopping distance consists of reaction distance and braking distance. Higher speed increases both, and braking distance grows especially quickly.
Drive within what you can see
You must be able to stop within the visible part of the road and before a foreseeable hazard.
